What I Learned After I Brought The Baby Think It Over Doll Home

I learned that caring for a child is a hassle when you have to do other things as well. I also learned that it can be hard at times when you don’t have anyone to help you, or watch the baby when you need to get other things done. I think that having a real baby as a teen would be stressful and hard because you got to struggle with going to school, going to work, and taken care of your child. You would also not be able to hang out with your friends all the time if you had a child in your teenage years. A child would impact my life right now because I cant afford one. Therefore I would have to get a job, then balance my job, my school work, and caring for the baby. Having a child would effect my future because, I would also might have to drop out of high school in order to keep up with my job to make money to care for the baby. I say that this was a valuable experience because it teaches you how hard it is to take care of a child, and how its hard to go to school, go to work and have a life at the same time your taken care of your child.

The Baby Think It Over Doll

On Friday, February 26 I had to take the baby think it over doll home for the weekend. The baby think it over doll is a doll that acts like a real baby. It cries, whimpers, coughs, burps, coos, and breathes like a real baby does. This doll is suppose to teach you what it is like when you care for a baby. If you let the head drop the baby will scream and start crying and the computer inside of it will record it. When the baby starts crying you have two minutes to charm the doll before it records as neglect. Once you charm the doll you will either try feeding the baby, changing its diaper, rocking the baby, burping the baby, or it could just be fussy. If the baby is fussy it will cry for three minutes straight once you charm it. Yes while the baby cries for three minutes straight you will be stress out especially when you're tired, but the baby think it over doll does teaches you a lot and it will make you think twice if you want to become a teen parent. The doll has different types of genders like, Caucasian, African American, Native American, & Chinese, you can also get a boy or a girl. Next blog I'll be talking about my experience with the baby think it over doll, and what I learned when I took it home.

Teen Parenting

A lot of people dislike having teens being parents. Adults dislike this because they know teens are not ready to have one, are not responsible or can't afford one and this is true.It takes a lot of responsibility to have a child and to care for one and it is a lot of work. Teenagers think that having a child and caring for one at the age of 15 to 18 is easy and they don't think it would cost a lot.

If your going have a kid at the age of 15-18 you will have to balance school and work, also you wont be able to go out with your friends, and you wont have a life anymore because you will have to stay home and take care of your child. This is why becoming a parent at the age 15-18 is a bad idea.

The problems with being a teen parent:
  • You Get Less Sleep
  • Can't hang out with friends
  • Need to get a job
  • Might have to drop out of school
  • Less money
  • No Social life
  • Cannot Party
  • You need to take care of your child
  • You might not have family support in helping caring for you child
Teenage parents find it hard to balance school, work and caring for a child therefore they drop out of school to maintain keeping a job and caring for their child, or they will quit work to keep there education and maintain caring for their child. Most teens will stay out of school for the first few months the baby is born until it is old enough to walk then they would either get a family member to watch the child while they go back to school or put the child in daycare. I'm known by this because a few of my friends have kids and that's what they did. They left school for a few months to care for there child, then they went back to school while there parents watched the baby until they came home from school or they put their child in daycare at our school.

Having a baby when your a teenager isn't all fun and games is a huge responsibility and it takes a lot of work and cost a lot of money. Getting pregnant just because you want a child, you think they are cute, or to save your relationship with your partner isn't a good idea. A baby is a lot to handle, takes a lot of patients, and can be stressful, especially if you don't have the time, money or help to raise one. If you want a child because you think it might help save your relationship with your partner think again. A child can tear you two apart because both you and your partner will fight over taken turns on helping caring, and watching the baby, plus your partner may not help u financially on supporting the child. The last worst possible choice to have a child is because you want to fit in with the rest of the crowd at school or because you think they are cute. Sure they can be cute but they can take a lot out of you, and then later down on the road you might be saying to yourself why did i decide to have a child for? I don't have the time or money to take care of it. I just wasted my life, by having this child i wont be able to have fun ever again.

Then there are some teenagers out there who have kids but because its not there fault, sometimes the baby isn't planned, or the birth control doesn't work or the condom broke, so them finding out that they are pregnant is a shock to them, and a scare. Also most teens out there have been raped and that's why they have kids so its not there fault. Yes they could of got an abortion or gave the kid up for adoption but some teenagers don't stand for abortion or can't give there kid up to a total strangers.
